I have begun Inspiring History to illustrate Profiles in Character. In this venture, I have highlighted qualities of people in my life who have impacted me in ways that have helped me develop my own qualities that can make the world a better place. I can testify, firsthand, that these contributions have strongly influenced me. The experiences with these people have given me abilities to do good, and their stewardships have inspired me, energized me, in ways to move forward with that work of improving our life.
This direct interaction has made it clear and simple on how these people have displayed their unique qualities in my life. It is personal and I can firmly support the qualities, the influence, and the result of accepting them.
Having built a solid foundation on Profiles in Character in my personal life through a dozen or so examples, I now want to expand the venture, to look beyond the near mountains I can see from my home, and journey to other places to see who displays qualities that can make life better for all of us.
This journey to seek Profiles in Character beyond my own experiences takes me to a further landscape, more distant mountains, and the wider realm of the world. There’s so much that is out there, although this will not be from my personal experience. But with the foundations of those that I have described who were in my life, I feel that it is fitting to look at new faces to see how they might also influence us to make a better world.
One of the first people on this journey will be Thomas Edison. In a significant way, I consider him “almost personal” since he was in my local geographic area, he walked the same paths that I did, albeit some 80 years before me. Being located a mere handful of miles from my home, I have taken note of him in my youth, and he did influence me with his inimitable qualities. This will bring up the “technical nature” that one can be inspired by, and how one might make the world a better place by a vision, a thought, ideation, invention, and presenting the novelty to the world for adoption so as to make the world a better place.
So, with some trepidation I will journey beyond those near mountains seen through my own eyes and look to the distant ones, to seek others with valuable Profiles in Character.
Further from my placid remembrances, I can see a bright morning dawning with a warm flow of new thought lapping at the shore of our current knowledge, broader ways that we can take with Profiles in Character to help each of us make the world a better place.
