I love this valuable reminder of the legacy we can leave through our good works. I appreciate how you illustrated that message by describing the remarkable work of your paternal great grandpa and how it may have intersected with John Wesley! All my life, I have been guided by these words of JW: "Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, to all the souls you can, in every place you can, at all the times you can, with all the zeal you can, as long as ever you can"

Thank you, Bill!

Yes, Rachel. Teddy Roosevelt said similar “Do what you can, with what you've got, where you are.”

Thank you Rachel. Yes, a wonderful (if long) statement by John Wesley. A fav of mine is Teddy Roosevelt's "Do what you can with what you have where you are." We need to read our world, understand, identify a focus for our competency and then do it. BTW, I love Wesley hymns!

Thanks Debbie. History and family go together. It's great when we have some record that we can refer to and try to make sense of.

What a nice read! I loved the personal history in addition to the general info about stone masons. And the pictures were wonderful!!

Thanks Debbie. It is fascinating to reach back in history, especially one’s own family, and try to discern. Who were they? What was their occupation? Their general situation? How did they do with this ? (Like leave the old country to come do America). Fascinating.
